How to add virtual Home button on iPhone, iPad

With the new generations of iPhones and iPads, Apple decided to ditch the Home Button and adopt new gesture-based navigation. Also, the new edge-to-edge display design does not leave room for the home button. Many people coming from the older version of iPhones or iPads were used to the home button that usually took them to the home screen irrespective of the app they are using. In case you are not comfortable using the new gesture-based navigation then, there's an alternative that allows you to add the good old home button on your iOS device called Assistive Touch.

The Assistive Touch is a virtual home button that floats around the display and apart from serving as a home button it can also be customised for single-tap, double-tap, long-press or 3D touch (supported device only) to perform several tasks. Tapping the Assistive Touch button opens up several menu options that give quick access to the notification panel, control centre, etc.
This feature also comes handy for users whose home button is malfunctioning.
If you are wondering how to turn on this feature on your Apple device, here's are ready to use guide for you:
1.Open 'Settings' on your iPhone
2.Scroll down and look for 'Accessibility' option

3.Tap on 'Assistive Touch'
4.Now, turn on the toggle from the Assistive Touch page
5.Once done, you will be able to see a new floating button on your screen
How to customise the Assistive Touch button
From the Assistive Touch menu, select the option 'Customize Top Level menu.'

Select the number of shortcuts you want and tap on the '+' icon to add the actions. Apart from this, users can also customise the single/double tap and 3D touch action.
There are several actions to choose from such as Home, Open menu, app switcher, volume up/down and more.
For those using the latest iPhones or iPads can drag the home button at the center of the bottom screen to use it as a home button.

You can stop third-party apps from scanning your Gmail inbox, here's how

While Google is keeping the security of all the emails on its widely used platform, third-party app makers may still have access to them. The report from the Wall Street Journal said that Google still allows hundreds of software makers to scan through your Gmail inboxes and target advertisements and recommendations based on your personal information. As it turns out, there is a way to keep all those third-party app makers at bay. You can simply do it within a few steps. Heres how.

Step 1: Googles Security Check-up page. That is - https://myaccount.google.com/security-checkup/3
The page not just shows you the recent devices from where you have logged in to your Google account but also the third-party apps that you may have given permission to access the account information and have forgotten about it.
Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Third-party access.

On clicking it you will see a drop-down mentioning all the apps that have access to your Google/Gmail account. Clicking on each app will also show you what specific service the app has access to.
Step 3: If you want to remove that apps access to your Google account, simply click on Remove Access. Thats it.
You can also remove Google service access from all those devices from where you logged in.

After the WSJ report came out suggesting that third-party app developers can scan through your Gmail inbox, Google responded in a blog post. The search giant said that it thoroughly vets the third-party apps and services that have access to the sensitive user data. Along with this, the company has also mentioned that third-party apps need to follow a proper review process in order to gain access to the user data.
Apart from this, the tech giant has also said that it shows the complete list of permissions to a user before they install an app informing them about what all data will be accessed by the app.

How to make Google Assistant perform multiple tasks with a single voice command

Google this year in June introduced Google Routines, a feature that makes the Assistant perform multiple tasks one after another by taking just one voice command. The feature is quite often seen while setting up alarms in the Clock app in Android smartphones in India. This not just saves your effort to manually trigger each task on your smartphone but also saves time to open different services, perform the given job, and then closing it. So, heres how you can make use of Google Routine.

Heres how you can set up Google Routine from inside the Clock app.
Step 1
While setting up an alarm, tap on the Google Assistant Routine. This will open the page with all the tasks that the Assistant will carry once you dismiss the alarm.
Step 2
You can tap on any of the tasks such as Adjust media volume, Tell me about the weather, Tell me about my commute, Tell me about todays calendar, Tell me todays reminder and Take phone off silent.

Step 3
Once selected, you can change the order of the tasks that will be carried by Google Assistant.
Step 4
Then you can choose one of the tasks from the And then play... This includes options like News, Podcasts, Audiobook and Nothing.
Step 5
It is even possible to choose news sources from where the Assistant will read your news. Same goes for Podcasts.
Step 6 Once done, tap on the tick mark icon on top right corner. You will get a prompt saying that the assistant will give you information from the lock screen as well. Tap on Allow to approve.

Step 7
Thats it. You will see a coloured Google Assistant Routine icon just under the alarm. To remove it, tap on the minus sign.
Now that Google Routines has started showing up in India inside the Clock app, we expect it to have a deeper integration in other services as well.

At the time of launch, this app was restricted to only Google Pixel devices and later Google started rolling out for other Android and iOS devices. It made easier for users to access this feature by adding it to the Google Photos app. However, there's a separate app called Google Lens for Android smartphones, but that's not the case with an iPhone or iPad. In a recent update, Google has added the Google Lens icon directly into the search bar of the Google app.
So, in case you also want to use this feature on your iPhone and iPad, here're a few ways you can get Google Lens on your iOS device.

PUBG Mobile Vikendi Snow Map Download Now Available on Android and iOS

  • Vikendi is finally available for download on Android and iOS
  • It's the game's first snow map
  • It has a 134.2MB download size
As scheduled, PUBG Mobile has received the Vikendi snow map for Android and iOS. This follows the PUBG Mobile 0.10.0 update that went live earlier this week which added support for Vikendi. Keep in mind that you can't play on the PUBG Mobile Vikendi snow map just yet. Developer Lightspeed and Quantum is giving players a day to download the map before opening up matchmaking for it 24 hours later. This is fairly generous because the PUBG Mobile Vikendi snow map download size is 134.2MB on Android and iOS. The PUBG Mobile Vikend snow map start time is 5:30am IST on December 21.

Aside from adding support for the new map, the PUBG Mobile 0.10.0 update brings some interesting features such as the Firearms Finish Upgrade System. This lets players get new cosmetic items such as kill effects and death crate appearances. The arrival of Vikendi in PUBG Mobile makes it the second platform to receive the map after PUBG PC developer PUBG Corp announced it was hitting Steam on December 19. A hotfix for PUBG Mobile was released just before Vikendi was available for download.

PUBG Mobile Vikendi update hotfix notes
  • Fixed a bug where the 'Ultra' frame rate setting in HD mode was not available on iPad 2018.
  • Fixed a resolution detection bug on iPad Pro 12.9".
  • Fixed a bug where some devices had reduced graphics quality.
  • Fixed a bug where the graphics quality is reset to default after a restart.
  • Fixed a bug where the sound from left channel is louder than the right channel when another player is running towards you from the right side.
PUBG Mobile now has 30 million daily active users and has hit 200 million downloads, Tencent said in a statement. This number excludes China and just highlights how popular PUBG Mobile is across the world. The game has a huge player base in India and many other markets, and the fact that PUBG Mobile runs smoothly on even low-end Android devices has definitely boosted its popularity.
However, the 200 million downloads number doesn't paint an accurate picture of how many people play the game. The daily active users is a metric people should look at to gauge PUBG Mobile's popularity and even that number is very high.

Thanks to being on Android (as well as iOS), PUBG Mobile dominates Asia and China according to Sensor Tower, with the US making up only 30 percent of PUBG's revenue. PUBG Mobile on Android is very popular in markets where there aren't many PCs or consoles, such as India. Many people here use Android devices as their primary computing device and that adds to the game's popularity.
PUBG Mobile has been actively adding new features to the game on both Android and iOS. We've stated before that the game is better on mobile than on PC and consoles.

TRAI DND App on iOS: Here's how to use the new app to block spam

With TRAI's spam blocker app finally on iOS, here's how you can use it to reduce the amount of unwanted calls and SMSes.
Earlier this year, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India threatened to render iOS devices in the country useless, because of a dispute involving the implementation of a Do Not Disturb app for the platform. However, this has now been resolved, and the TRAI DND app is now available to download on Apples App Store for iPhones. While privacy concerns have been raised, the app does promise to offer some resistance to the problem of spam calls and text messages in India.

If you have an iPhone in India, you can now download the TRAI DND app directly from the App Store. But what does this app do? Read to to find out how to use the new TRAI DND app on iOS.
Step 1: Register for DND
Its possible that you already have your number on the National Do Not Call registry maintained by TRAI, but if you dont then this will be your first step. This can be done through the app itself, which requires the sending of an SMS to 1909. The app will allow you to select DND preferences, and will set up the SMS to send. Having your number added to the list can take a few days, though.
Step 2: Enable Extension

Even if the registration will take time, you can still activate the remaining features of the app. In order to do this, you need to enable the extension through your iPhone settings. This can be done by going to Settings, selecting Phone, then SMS/Call Reporting, and checking the TRAI DND option. This will allow the app to receive information on your calls. While this would be considered a privacy issue with most apps, its the only way to enable the service for now.
